Vehicle is a 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham, 3.8L, FE3. Directly underneath the driver seat area (possibly alongside the car's frame, there is a VERY distinct smell of gasoline. It may be dripping this as well, but it has rained for the last 2 days, I cannot be certain. Diagnosis? Suggestions?

Your fuel line probably developed a leak. You will need to jack up the car to locate the source. A line replacement or repair of a line with a union type fitting should work. Some cars also have the fuel filter located just under the drivers seat area under the car. Check the fittings at the filter if it is there.
good luck.........

Leaking gas line. Likely rusting. The repair is to replace the line. That is not a huge job.

Driving with a leaking gas line is dangerous. Keep plenty of hot dogs in your car for when it bursts into flame.

sounds like a leak.
Check the fuel line for damage, or a leak from the pump or filter.
Remember it could be leaking elsewhere and running along some piping and bodywork before it's dripping from underneath.
