There is no bulb in your monitor. If you have a CRT then you have a tube, please do not replace just go buy another one. If you have a flat panel then there are no bulbs at all. If you are talking about the light next to the power switch then that is a lighted diode and I would recommend just let it be.

Monitors do not have bulbs. CRTs use a stream of electrons to cause certain parts of the screen to glow in the required colors. LCDs have a backlight that is composed of high-output LEDs (or something very similar) that burn out after X number of hours (cheap monitors are 10,000 hours, good monitors are 40,000 hours) and they are not replaceable.
If your monitor is getting darker or does not work, your only choice is to get a new one. Viewsonic is a good brand, as is Sony. Be sure to look at the backlight rating.

I presume 'the bulb' is in a laptop or flat screen monitor because the standard monitors have cathode ray tubes. Take it to a responsible dealer because it is the devil of a job and dangerous if you don't know what you are doing due to the charge left in the screen.

if it is a crt monitor that you are talking about then the bulb is placed inside the tube which is a sealed unit... the only way to do this is to change the tube, but for the hassel that this will cause your better off getting a new monitor.

I don't think its as easy to do this compared to regular light bulb. I would either go to the professional or get a new monitor.

Do not attempt to get inside your monitor - I assume it is the old type like a TV screen? There's lots of high voltage inside and you can't replace the cathode tube anyway.
Get a new monitor!
