If you don't mind him reading the comics on your computer, the best way to get the most comics for the cheapest price is to go to the official digital comics reseller:

http://www.gitcorp.com/

There, you can get the entire first 42 years of Amazing Spider-man (March 1963 - June 2006) for 49.99. Or, if you want to skip the Silver era comics and just do the more recent ones, you can get 1987 - 2006 for 19.99.

Although, come to think of it, the more recent ASMs may not be appropriate for a 6-year-old.

So you might actually be better off looking through your public library's online catalogue for Marvel Adventures : Spider-Man. Marvel Adventures is appropriate for all ages.

That's actually the best place to look for anything - the library. See, after each 6-issue storyarc of any comic has been completed for about 3 months, Marvel re-releases the story in Trade Paperback (TPB) form, and a lot of libraries will then pick it up. Even if your library doesn't have them, you can get them through ILL... if your kid is willing to wait. If your kid isn't willing to wait, you can get the TPBs at your local Borders or Barnes & Noble, or Amazon.com (where you might be able to buy them used). TPB's, even when you buy them new, are slightly cheaper than buying individual issues.

Specifically, if you want to get some of the older back issues (from back in the 1960s) but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them, you can get Marvel Essentials for about $20 each- they're in black and white, but they each compile about 20 individual comics.

There's also the softcover editions of Marvel Masterworks (all in color) which cost $12.95 and cover 10 stories each.

Wherever you end up buying them online, Essentials or Masterworks is probably what you should pick up.

The best place to go is your local comic shop. I mean you can get Spider-Man comics there for cheap. Back issues don't sell for much. But check out Ebay,Marvel,Craigslist .

Or you can search google for cheap comics and they will give you tons of them..check out milehigh comics too..hope I could help.
