Try reading chapters of Steven King for the horror, humour and fantasy - and combine it with a good Mills and Boon (although I'm sure M&B has its fair share of fantasy and humour?!)

Try some of Laurell Hamilton's books. http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/ I am a big fan of the Anita Blake series, but the Merry Gentry books are great too.

If you like a real life story, I'd recommend Sharon Osbourne's EXTREME.
It is a wonderful biography about her life, her difficulties at an early age (born into a disfunctional family) and her amazing ways to overcome them. Great stuff.
