There's a teacher I really want to thank. He's really helped me in math last semester, and gave me a new sense to believe in myself, because i always had trouble in math. I really would like to thank him, but i dont know quite what to say, and im afraid it might be awakward for the both of us. I don't want to freak him out.

What do you think?

There is nothing more thrilling to a teacher than having a former student come up to them and thank them for their efforts. Just before Christmas I sent an email to one of my favourite teachers after 38 years and told him how his patience impacted my life.....he was moved to tears. don't deny your teacher this wonderful experience, it really is special to be acknowledged in this way.

Send him a hand written thank you note .

Dear Mr. So

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the help you gave me during this past semester. Your help has allowed me to find a new sense of believe in myself when it comes to mathematics. I am sure this will also translate into other areas of my academic studies.

Thank you for being such a great teacher ,

Your name

It seems that the teacher helping you out means a lot to you, so yeah, I think you should thank him. Even if it does become awkward, at least you get the satisfaction of letting him know how much you appreciate what he's done and he knows that you're thankful what he's done. Just don't send him the wrong message, such as giving him the vibe that you "love" him. It could be extra awkward. Besides, I don't think it would be strange if you did thank him. He's done so much for you, and gave you your self-confidence.

Go ahead and tell him i mean think about it the other way around if you were a teacher and helped a student wouldn't you think it would be nice for an apology? Just go up to him and say thank you, you may think you helped me with math but to me you've helped me with so much more than that.

You could write a nice thank you note. Tell him exactly what you said here. Don't be too friendly, or overstate things. Just stick to the subject of math, and end with "thank you for being an excellent teacher." He'll be delighted to hear it.

There is nothing wrong about thanking him. He will appreciate it, since teachers are usually not thanked for much. You should get him a card, and if you feel it's too ackward to give it to him in person, you can always drop it off as mail.

Go buy a nice Thank-You note and just let him know briefly how much you appreciate his help. Few words, short and sweet. Trust me, it will mean a lot. Teachers need reassurance, too! They need to know that they are making a difference.

Give him a gift card to a local restaurant or book store and include a sincere note. If he changed your life (and it sounds like he did to an extent), then it's worth thanking him for, even if it comes across as awkward...But it won't. We teachers NEED to know we're making a difference, because sometimes we don't see it ourselves. You keep us going. :)

I would send a note - this way you can choose the words that express your thoughts completely. Teachers love to know that they made a difference.

Everyone likes to be acknowledged. Teachers have a very tough job, and breakthroughs are rare. Write him a note, and thank him for what he did.
Make it simple, and short.
He will probably keep it the rest of his life
