My two angels have just laid eggs on a large leaf .In the past they have laid them on the glass and the filter making it impossible to do anything . I have a 180 litre tank and also a small tank that I just use in emergencies . My tank is a community tank and in the past the eggs have just got eaten . Would I be able to just cut the leaf off and put them in the small tank and if so when is best to do this , they have just laid them a few hours ago . Also would I have to do anything special in the other tank ? They are guarding them and I am worried that I may stress them out if I move them , but they are also giving my other fish a hard time . Sorry question so long but have seen brilliant answers from you tropical experts and hope you can advise me . Thanks

First you have to plan ahead for a home for the juvie angels.A small spawn is 200 fry, large spawns are 600+. You will need 1/2 to 1 gallon per angel to get them to a sellable size.

If you have the tank space & buyers, by all means pull the spawn. check out http://webrbiz.com/angelfish/amh.html this is a good starting place for anyone planning on breeding angels. You will need to feed the fry freshly hatched baby brine shrimp, there is no way around that. Check out http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/

The adults will be fine when you remove the spawn, and aggression will decrease. I use anything from a 2.5 gallon to a 10 gallon to hatch out a spawn. I add 7 drops per gallon methelyne blue, 4 drops per gallon maroxy, and 3 drops per gallon acriflavin+ to the hatching tank, this prevents fungus & bacteria. I begin 50% water changes daily on the 4th day.

I've been breeding angels for years, raised & sold many thousands. 12 of my 18+ tanks are dedicated to breeding angels, the rest are other breeding & growout projects.

I too agree with the idea of moving the leaf and/or the plant into a separate area so the parents can't eat them.

I would move the leaf or the plant. If the parents are eating the eggs, put them in alone. If not, put the parents in as well.
