Apparently her mom thinks she is old enough to have it, and if mom is supporting her then she will probably help her out with the baby. Why does she want to do this?? You never know what having an abortion is going to do to your body, there are alot of complications that can happen afterwords. My best friend had a child, got pregnant a few yrs later and had an abortion, then got with a man she loved and wanted to have a baby with, and cant, when she gets pregnant she misscarries. Your friend needs to think about this one real hard and talk to her mother some more. Having a baby so young might be really scary at first, but when she has the baby and looks at it for the first time, she will be happy she didnt do it. And you know, you are not much of a friend by helping her do this, you should be supporting her and telling her that she will be fine and that you will be there to help her with things, not helping her commit murder! I hope my daughters dont have friends like you when they get older.

Abortions performed prior to 9 weeks from the last menstrual period (7 weeks from conception) are performed either surgically (a procedure) or medically (with drugs).
From 9 weeks until 14 weeks, an abortion is performed by a dilatation and suction curettage procedure.
After 14 weeks, surgical abortions are performed by a dilatation and evacuation procedure.
After 20 weeks of gestation, abortions can be performed by labor induction, prostaglandin labor induction, saline infusion, hysterotomy, dilatation and extraction, or intact dilatation and extraction.
Most abortions are performed in an outpatient office setting (doctor’s office, ambulatory clinic) under local anesthesia with or without sedation.
Depending on your state I believe there are different laws determining how long you can wait before having the abortion. I think in most states it is prior to entering the second trimester.

Wow... 24 weeks! Some babies can survive outside the womb at 24 weeks with some complications.. but can survive! Im thinking in the first 12 weeks.. although I have heard that they will do it after that in some states! Touchy subject.. and people will come on here and judge.. so just be aware. People will have abortions whether its legal or illegal. They will just find a doctor on the Black Market to do it.. so there is no changing ones mind.. I dont think.. so who are we to Judge.

It really does depend on the state you are in. I would highly recommend getting some counseling before making a final decision. This is something that has affects that sometimes does not surface for years and the emotional affect is sometimes missed because it is years later. There are also physical side affects to the procedure, that are sometimes glossed over and not fully discussed. Please seek counsel from more than one source. This is far too important than to go by one sides opinion

I know it is tough I had an abortion myself when I was just 15... I think you can not have it done after the first trimester 14 weeks. But tell her to think hard because it will never leave the saddness and the questions of what if? I probably would not do it again and I can say that because I experienced it you have to be strong their are protesters and they are terrable and should mind their own business!

According to the CDC, 87% of abortions performed are done before 13 weeks. Only 4.1% occured between 16-20 weeks of gestation

In most places it's illegal to get an abortion once the mother is in the second trimester (unless the mother's life is in danger), but the laws are different everywhere. Contact Planned Parenthood to find out what the laws are in your area.

You should inquire from Planned Parenthood as to what the laws are in your state. And don't listen to what others say, this is a decision to be made by the pregnant mother, no else has a right to say what she must do with her own body.

generally have the abortion in the first three months, and not later than the end of the 4th month. I know doctors will do later term abortions, but it is much harder on all concerned.
