I think it's actually healthy to NEVER get over him. If you get over him, you might forget why he's your EX rather than your husband. You don't want to relive the heartache daily, but try to remember why things didn't work out. There is nothing wrong with holding a candle for an old flame, really. As long as you keep your heart open, you will be able to let new love inside. Besides, we can always learn something from ourselves when we look at our past mistakes and realize, they weren't really mistakes at all. They were a learning experience. But, the best way to keep him in the BACK of your mind is to find a hobby or keep busy or find a new love. Well, perhaps LOVE is the wrong word for it. Get back in the saddle, as it were, and find out who you are without him. It can be really hard to define ourselves without a mate sometimes. Some women just cannot be alone or they feel empty. If thats the case with you, try to figure out why it's so hard for you to be alone and why you can't seem to get over him. If you know the how and the why, it's easier to replace the wants and the needs with another outlet.

Been divorced 15 yrs and have moments each day when I like him or when I wish murder wasn't illegal - depends on his daddy antics at that particular moment and how much his latest issue is going to cost me to fix with the kids.
Took me a year before I could talk to him civilly and act respectfully to him. However, the more paternity suites he got, the lifestyle he led, the more I laughed and the easier it got. Makes me VERY happy I was smart enough to leave him. We actually get along better now than the whole time we were together - easy to just hang up the phone.

Well, My ex-husband cheated on me with my best friend so I took our 3 children moved out took him to court sucked him dry financially and then engaged HIS best friend, that seemed to work for me! I know how you feel though, just breathe and every day know you will get over him. Surround yourself with good friends and your family, you will get through this. Good luck! Angel :)

Seriously, divorce hurts, and not much except time and sometime someone else in your life helps much.

You don't "get over" it, you learn to live with it and move on, with time it fades a little, but you never "get over" it.
