Build inbound links to your website.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank with Yahoo / Google / MSN.

One good way is to check whether the keywords you have in mind tallies with what the popular searches by the masses of people out there click on the Keyword Selector Tool @ http://www.geocities.com/lcming/adsense
For example,
I have an Avon site,
I use "Avon consultant" as one of the keywords
But checking the Tool,
It yielded "0" searches in Feburary
However by changing to "Avon Representatives"
There were much much much more searches made.

You could do this by using tag section on your website. This will enable you to filter important words on your web contents. Also, you could highlight the in bold the most common/important keywords you use on your contents to emphasize those keywords.

Set a free alias such that when people keyin the alias as search string in search engines, your website is fetched first in the search results. This is a tricky way to get the job done.
