Last night I slipped and fell, but I felt fine. When I woke up this morning, I was in a lot of pain and it hurt to walk. I took some Tylenol. Later at school (around 12:30) I put ice on my knee until 2:15. Now (3:30) it still really hurts. My mom put an Ace bandage on and I took some ibuprofen. I don't think it's swelling, but it still hurts a lot.

I'm going to Quebec this weekend and will be doing a lot of walking around, so I'm afraid that will make it worse.

Should I go to the hopsital or just not worry about it?

Thanks!

Also, when I bend and straighten it, it "pops."

My mom thinks I sprained it.

I think one of the best points you made is "I'm walking around" ( I know it hurts)..but you can bear weight and walk, right? That's good. Your knee is not a "bone" as such (except for the patella..kneecap) but a joint. A place where your Femur (thighbone), and Tibia-Fibula (lower leg bones) meet, and with the help of a complex system of tendons and muscles and ligaments, cartilage, Fluids, and more, allow you to walk and move your leg the way it moves. If your knee is "locking up", or clicking/popping with pain, or if you can't bear weight, or anything else just "hurts too much", do see the MD. Otherwise I would try "whatever" position feels good, small amounts of Ibuprofen or Tylenol, an icepack if you like, however I would avoid tightly ace-bandaging a knee unless so instructed by the MD. Give it a day, hope you feel better!

Walking around might actually do it some good. It could be that the muscle it just really tight, or pulled. A little walking will get the pain out of it, but exceessive could hurt it more. If it continues, then go to the doctor, but otherwise you should be fine. I hope you feel better soon. Have fun in Quebec.

It will probably heel in due time, walking may be good for it, but you could get some icy hot pain patches for it. I messed my knees up in a car accident and I use those to help with the pain when I have to be on the move, they help.

You will have to ice it for 20 mins each two hours all day to aid scale back swelling and agony. Heat might develop the circulate to that subject and in flip develop your agony and swelling.
