I never thought I could endure the death of a child, but just last month our 5-month-old baby girl died of pneumonia. As I bent over her in her bassinet, desperately trying to revive her, something in me knew she was already dead, and amazingly in those intensely painful moments I was given the grace to understand that she was already far above me in Heaven. Happy and peaceful and free of sickness, gazing upon the face of God.
Not a day goes by that my heart does not painfully ache for that sweet little face, but a sweeter wave of comfort passes over my soul when I contemplate that tiny little saint in Heaven. She is praying for our family now. We are all stronger and better for this...and we are aware that she sees all we do with a wisdom that we cannot comprehend.
Her purity and innocence inspire me to strive for virtue and goodness. Her absence inspires me to hold my other little children closer and make every moment on Earth a beautiful one.
God never gives us a test we cannot pass.
He never allows a temptation that cannot be conquered.
He is a rock of strength and a fountain of mercy and kindness.

Well if God does in fact exist, the test I wouldn't want to be put to is any situation where I need to protect two loved ones at the same time, but am only able to protect one or the other. I have no idea what I would do, and I hope never to find out.
