I changed the Transmission fluid +filter in a 1987-88 FWD Cadillac Fleetwood. After filling most of the way back up with fluid, i started the car to accurately fill the rest of the way, when Transmission fluid started spraying from the bottom of the radiator area. I did no work on this area , and can't see exactly where the leak is coming from. (the pan gasket, which i replaced is 100% leak free) There are two soft lines going to the radiator from the transmission that i am about to replace, but am not sure that they are what are leaking. what else could be the problem? Is there a pump between the trans and the cooler that could have blown a gasket? is it likely that the increased flow of the new filter damaged the trans-cooler/radiator? Are there any other reasons than higher flow/pressure that could have caused this? What are some cheep fixes?

The transmission cooler lines going to the radiator are leaking. Due to the age of the car, I am sure that the lines are cracked or rotted through. they may have been disturbed when you lifted the car to drain the tranny pan. Just enough to cause a leak. You can replace the entire line, or you can just repair the affected area. There isnt much of fluid pressure running through these lines, so a compression fitting will do the trick for you.
good luck.......

There are no coils in a radiator for the tranny fluid. There is a small tank that sits in the side, or bottom, of the radiator. It holds a pint, at best. You will lose just a tad when you take the lines off. You'll need a pint or less to replace what is lost. Just check you level after the tranny is warmed up.

if its coming from the radiator area then its most likely the tranny cooler lines. it is possible that when you replaced the filter the added pressure caused the leak. you seem to know a little about mechanics since you did the filter so it should be something you can fix at home.

Its the lines from transmission to radiator replace.

Those lines are transmission cooler lines, and that may be the culprit, thats what I would suspect without being there to see it.
