The first time I broke up in writing...and then "he" showed up at my door wanting an explanation for everything on the letter...boy that did feel like an oral exam. Nasty I tell you...

OK, this is a really long and awful story. I'll just hit the highlights.

Met him in a bar about 20 years ago and we dated for about 6 months. He proposed, I accepted, then I found out he was already married. I found out the night hurricane Alicia hit Houston. I told him that I would not be the other woman and gave him 2 weeks to tell his wife that he wanted a divorce. (I was young and dumb. I should have just kicked his butt to the curb.) 2 weeks later he took me out to dinner and said that he had told his wife and she ended up trying to commit suicide. She was in the hospital in a coma for 6 weeks after that. Then she went home and he couldn't bear to leave her. I continued to hold on, feel guilty and hope that she would get better and that he would be able to finallly make the break and marry me. A little while after that I found out that he was having an affair with his secretary. I also found out that he had never even told his wife about us in the first place and that the whole suicide thing was just a way to keep me hanging on. After that I moved, changed my phone number and changed jobs so that he could never contact me again.

Even 10 years later, just thinking about that story would cause me physical pain.

Just give me the 10 points now, 'cause I'm pretty sure I win for this one.

Hmmm. You mean the one I shot at, or the one I threw his crap off the 3rd floor balcony, and then sneaked into *his* apartment and destroyed his new girlfriend's messages on the answering machine (I knew the idiot didn't write her number down!) oh, and I kept his last month's paycheck for 'rent' on my storage room! ... or are we talking about the one whose car I took to move away (I did return it, a week later)...he told me to get rid of my cat, so I packed his car and left. He had a real shock when he got home from work that night. Called his sister to see if she knew where I went - and of course she did, but didn't tell him. Poor guy. Had the only 78 Ford in Richland HIlls with a perfect interior (all covered in plastic) and I took his *new* chevy he'd just bought. I thought he was going to have a stroke!

Yeah, my ex boyfriend who I loved very much broke up a few months ago. Me and him were planning on getting engaged, etc etc. Anyway, I loved him with all my heart and would of done anything for him. Well come to find out he was cheating on me, with his best friend (another guy) and two other girls. I didn't break up with him over it though, he left me for the other girl. It was horrible, especially since now I am waiting to get tested for STD's.. uhh I can't believe what he did to me!

No one deserves a break-up in writing!! Shame on you. He deserved an explanation. That's like getting fired over the telephone!!

The first time I broke up with a boy it was b/c he said, "I love you," to me. I replied with, "Well I hate you & don't want to see you anymore." That was so mean, it's been 25 years since I did that, and I still feel guilty.

When my ex moved out, we were in the middle of an ice storm, the electricity was out, which meant no heat in the house. On his way out, he said that if I needed anything, to call him.

Under those circumstances I couldn't think of anything I needed bad enough to call him.

Some hard ones. The one I'll share is I was told it was over through a screen door. Seems stupid now.

Well lets see...there's the psycho who wanted me to marry him after he knocked up his step-sister. Then there's the freak who stalked me after I gave him the silent treatment. He followed me for days. I've broken up with a guy in an email before....

Too many to list, my dear.

The best one involved 100ft of 12 gauge copper wire and a fruit smoothie.
