Liberalism is a political philosophical model.

Liberals believe in personal freedoms, lack of government regulation (over individual liberties), equal opportunity, and protection of the environment. Most favor government regulation of business and social programs toward those ends. A liberal favors progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties.

A self-sustaining political machine that buys votes with government largesse and keeps people dependent upon that government largesse through the tax burden they put in place to pay for it.

Classic liberalism is great. What passes as liberalism today sucks.
The Libertarian party is the only classical liberal party in the USA today.
Socialism is not liberalism.
