Pay for the war out of your own pocket. That's what you say about stem cell research, right?
You say the war benefits everyone. I say so does stem cell research. You don't want the government to use your tax money to pay for stem cell research that will help fight diseases that kill millions of Americans every year... I don't want the government to use my tax money to pay for a war that kills far fewer.
I will stop pushing for the government to fund things like stem cell research if you write a check out of your personal account to pay for the war.
Deal?

Okay, knee-jerk extremists... I didn't mention embryos, so why are you?

Moltar: Again, I never mentioned embryonic stem cell research. But since you bring it up, did you know that the embryos used in that research are otherwise headed for the incinerator anyway? They're the "leftovers" that all those poor childless couples who'd give anything to have a child decided they didn't need. They're considered medical waste. They should at least be allowed to help out with medical research, instead of just bring thrown out.

That's what you say about stem cell research, right?
There is only one line of stem cells that republican object to and that is fetal stem cells by destorying embros.
Now lets consider there are other sources that being cord blood and the after-birth which is rich and doesn't require the dead of embro.
Why not use the adult stem cells that have been working and have 72 cures so far and 0 so far with embronic stem cells.
For the peer review I give you this.
http://www.stemcellresearch.org/facts/asc-refs.pdf
So why should we fund something with no results or no promising results.
Oh wait I forgot something Al Gore wants to tax us something like 380 billion for global warming and he is making money off it. So should he and those who believe in it pay for it rather than those who don't.
The reason why I mention embros is because that is the only line of stem cells that republicans object to not all stem cells.
So when you say that we oppose stem cells I am just pointing out to you that it is more accurate to say embronic stem cells.

First off, I opposed Bush's ban on stem cell research. It was a stupid ideological move that catered to the religious right, at the expense of those who could benefit on the research.
Second: Taxpayer money is not paying for the war, the government is borrowing the money from foreign countries.

Please name one cure found from EMBRYONIC stem cell research...
There aren't any (or there aren't enough). Adult stem cell research is funded by private companies. Why? Because it leads to cures, and that makes money.
However, private companies refuse to fund embryonic stem cell research. Why? Because it hasn't found many (if any) cures. And that DOESN'T make money.
So why waste our government's money on something that hasn't been proven to work, or that has been proven NOT to work?
BTW, I am not supporting the war, just slamming embryonic stem cell research.

I don't mind stem cell research, just not the embryonic variety.
Adult stem cells have already proven fruitful, so have at them.
Taking your war argument to its logical extreme, suppose we were invaded, would you then expect to have to pay people to defend your home?
EDIT - I like Coragryph's idea

What if I do not agree with the war AND I think stem cell research can be funded privately?

How about the government stop paying for anything except the roads, the courts and law enforcement, and a purely defensive military.
Anything else, people can do whatever they want.
