I'm currently enrolled and attending Court Reporting school. It's been three months now and I can't seem to jump into the program. Anytime I go to school it feels like I'm pulling my own teeth out. I'm only here because no one will hire me because of my lack of skills. Why does it feel this way? What's wrong with me? What should I do?

This might not be the section for this, but I know I'll get a lot of responses.

Get out now, before you waste anymore time or money. If it is that hard to force yourself to go to school for the job, dont kid yourself and think it will be easier once you are in the work force actually doing the job.

Take a variety of classes until you find one you enjoy going to. That is probably the field you need to be in

Good luck!

Mayeb you arent passionate about it. Try and asses if that is really what you wanna do with your life. I made the BIG mistake of looking at $$$ and security when I started to get educated in the medical field, and then realized I'm just not passionate about it. That was time and $$$ -some form supportive family members- down the drain. I felt like such a failure and like I let people down. The good thing is I learned a lesson and I didnt take long before letting it go. As quick as you can, figure out if this is the right field for you and move on from there.

Theres nothing wrong with you, just give it some more time. I've been to 2 trade schools in 99 i went to truck driving that was 6 months of weekends and then in 04,05 i went to boat and yacht repair that was 1 year full time,Both times i didnt feel like i was supposed to be there didn't feel right but by the time i was finished them i was perfectly comfortable there. Since i've graduated I.ve been back to both of those schools to visit.Actually i went back to the boat and yacht repair the other week to visit with the instructors. But just give it some more time you will feel better. good luck every thing will work out

Well I'll handle the last part first. Technically polls and surveys isn't a topic so you can ask about anything, people forget that sometimes. Second talk to judges and courtroom employees to find out what impresses them enough to hire someone for your position. If all else fails you can do what Judge Judy did to get her TV spot. Help a local politician win their race for a local office.

If you have a Career Center in your area, make an appointment to talk to a Career Counselor. They have loads of info on careers, schooling, the most popular and financially stable jobs on the market now. You don't sound happy at all where you are, at least there you can get new ideas. Good luck.

Nobody said work would be easy.

If court reporting is something you can do, and it does pay above mimimum wage (be greatful for that) then maybe you should stick it out for a little bit and get something positive to be able to put on your resume in the future. Then look for something that really holds your interest.

Good Luck!

I can only think of two things. Either plug away at what your doing, trying to make it easier and better or find something you like and put yourself wholehartedly into that.

If you're not enjoying learning it you probably won't be happy doing it for a living. Pick a new career path that you will enjoy!
