Don't worry dude. The first time you hold your child, you will suddenly find strength you never new was there.
Having a child is the most amazing thing you will ever experience.
Everybody is scared at first. You'll be fine.

If you just got the news that your partner is pregnant, chances are that you're experiencing a rush of emotions. Maybe it's all happiness and excitement. But the reality is that for many first-time dads there are a whole lot of other feelings to deal with, too.
If you feel shocked, panicked, overwhelmed, scared, or like you're just not ready for this, you're not alone. Like any major life change, this is going to require a major adjustment. And if the pregnancy wasn't planned - half of all pregnancies aren't - you may be feeling these emotions in an even more intense way.

I am a single mother of two kids! When i had my first child i was scared shitless! I was married a year and 19 years old and having a child! I am now 22 years old and was married for four years and now getting a divorce! My advice is get as much info about infants as you can! Read articles and such from the father prospective! Also think about what your girlfriend is going through! She needs you more then anything right now! So do your research and love and care for your girlfriend! Just remmeber the mood swings and midnight cravings are all worth it in the end!
Also whoever gave me a thumbs down why? That is just retarded! I think people just like giving thumbs down cause they can but its irratating!

Congratulations
Welcome to parent hood
It is perfectly normal to be scared as all get out.
If you were to ask every parent mother or father if they were afraid with their first the answer would be yes
Will I be a good parent
What if I do something wrong
What if
Its is OK to be scared
As long as you keep baby safe, happy and healthy you'll be a great father

It is a perfectly normal fear, but don't worry when the baby comes all of your instincts will kick in and I am sure you will be a great dad!
Becoming a parent is scary, but all worth it in the end. Just be there for your girl as much as possible. Her body and hormones are running rampant right now. She will have aches and pains and worries.... and have raging hormones.

being scared is kind of part of the deal when your a first time parent. talk to your gf, i bet she's probably scared too. dont worry too much about making mistakes, every parent does, especially with their first child. start reading baby books, make sure to go to Lamaze classes when your gf is far enough along, talk to friends (or even your parents) about advice on what to do with kids. or, if you have a friend with a young baby, offer to babysit it for a day, so you learn a little about how to handle a kid before yours comes. good luck!! and congratulations!!!

It is normal to be scared. It will get more frusterating as your woman gets more into her pregnancy and you have no control. Just keep in mind that she is scared too. Be as comforting as possible and even when she "goes hormone crazy" keep your cool. She can't help it.
A great book is "Your Pregnancy - Father to Be". My husband found alot of helpful info there as well as on the website below.
Good luck and congratulation!

Welcome to the club! All of us went through that, and it will come in waves. Be worried, not worried, worried...
Let me guess. Finances and being a good role model? Being responsible for teaching another human EVERYTHING? It is a bit overwhelming, but rest assured that your feelings are normal.
They will come and go over the next few months.

Tell your g/f how you feel. Odds are that although she is happy she's having some anxiety as well. Not only will this allow you to get it off of your chest, but it will bring the two of you closer as you lean on each other for support! Good luck, and I hope this helps!
