I was wondering do you need to connect the dual fuel cooker to two connections gas and electric?
Also with the electric connection is is a normal plug you plug into the wall?
I would like further advice on this issue as I have only ever had a gas cooker?

You will need both gas & electric supply. If it's a double oven then you will need a 30 amp supply, if it's a single oven then 13 amps should do
RonnieB a corgi engineer cannot connect the electric supply unless he is cirtified to do so ( part p regs )

I'm assuming this is a modern electric cooker with gas hob.

If the unit is already fitted with a 13 amp plug then it is at least required for the hob ignition and any clocks that are fitted.

Most modern small electric cooker units only require a 13amp supply themselves although it is usually taken from a 13 amp fused spur rather than a plug in connection.

Yes, a dual fuel cooker does need both gas and electricity. Contrary to popular belief though, an electric oven or hob does not necessarily require 30 amp cable and fuse. I fitted an electric oven recently that required only a 13 amp fused spur. The cooker only needed 30A if it had both electric oven AND hob, according to the manufacturers recommendations.

You need a more substantial connection then a 13 amp plug. A cooker takes a load of power and it has to have a separate cable back to the fuse board or consumer unit. You need gas as well of course Consult an electrician - it shouldn't cost a huge amount

The electric side of you new cooker will require a 30amp cable wired into a box on the wall which will also be connected to an isolator switch.
The gas side will need to be connected to a gas supply either mains or bottle depending on which jets the cooker has!
Not as complicated as it sounds but if you are unsure at all then get a qualified engineer to fit it!
Even if you do the connections yourself you need a corgi registered gas engineer to certify the work so get him to do the whole thing!
