It is a bit silly isn't it. I find Eastenders totally depressing because of the constant shouting, animosity, misery etc. and with no attempt made to bring some kind of normal lighthearted aspect to it whatsoever.
You sit watching it and think 'What am I getting out of this? I know it's all going to end in more shouting, so what's the point?'

Eastenders is the number 1 viewed show on a weekly basis for the BBC and has been consistently for years.
I can personally take it or leave it, but is seems 8 million people can't.

Absolutely! I stopped watching Eastenders about 8 years ago as I thought it was so depressing. I do not know why people would want to sit and get depressed by watching that (sorry to upset all the Eastender fans)

My 1st reaction was yes, but without these trashy soaps the majority of the female British nation would be lost & have nothing to talk about on the phone & on a personal note if i sit through east & coro, without moaning too much, my wife is willing to sit through my obsession with The Simpsons & Futurama. Double bonus.

Eastenders is my favourite soap opera....sorry that probably makes me a saddo!!
But if were all talking about it now,it cant be all that bad can it?

Its not really public funds but it is, in my opinion, not a worthy program for the BBC, so I am in some agreement with you

You don't have to watch it to realise your life, (miserable as it is), can not be as bad as those folks' existence in Eastenders.
