Cricket has been an established team sport for hundreds of years. It originated in its modern form in England and is popular mainly in the present and former members of the Commonwealth . In the countries of South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, cricket is the most popular sport. It is also a major sport in places such as England and Wales, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Bermuda, and the English-speaking countries of the Caribbean, which are collectively known in cricketing parlance as the West Indies. There are also well established amateur club competitions in countries as diverse as the Netherlands, Kenya, Nepal and Argentina, among others; there are over one hundred cricket-playing nations recognised by the International Cricket Council.[1]

India, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and England are main cricket playing nations where it is at least the main summer sport or in the case of India, Pakistan and Australia the national sport. Since we don't know the full story I am going to keep out of speculation as for all we know it was a local trying to rob him. People are saying it may have been bookmakers or that he was going to blow the lid on some match fixing scandel.

I'm an Israeli citizen, and be sure there is Cricket in Israel too. I've been part of the Israeli National Cricket Team in the past..LOL, must sound funny, but yes, we have a large Indian contingent here, besides some Australians, British, and South African immigrants too. Here is the link to Israel Cricket Association - http://www.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/NATIONAL/ICC_MEMBERS/ISR/

Besides, Having been a member of the National side we've played international matches against Italy, France, Gibralter, and I know that even Ukraine, Russia, Germany have Cricket Teams.

I think someone needs to point out to you that claiming "people are willing to kill over cricket" is nothing more than ill-informed guessing.

Right now, no-one can say exactly why Bob Woolmer was murdered....but there is surely a 50/50 chance that it had nothing at all to do with cricket.
