The suggestions you have for Naxos, Paros etc. are good, but there is a problem: they are not on the same ferry line with Mykonos, so you may have to go back to Piraeus and take another ferry, which is a major loss of time (nd sea-sickness, if you get dizzy on ships). A very beautiful island near Mykonos, on the same ferry line, is Syros, a neoclassical town with a lot of night life, but not very "wild". From Mykonos of course you will also visit Delos on a day trip, the ancient sacred island with a great archaeological site.
As for Athens, you will go to the Acropolis, Plaka, Thiseio and monastiraki (the historic centre of Athens) and I also suggest a walk in Kolonaki, a nice area for lunch and shopping (designer shops etc.). In Kolonaki there are also some very interesting museums (Byzantine art museum and Benaki museum, which is really nice, it contains design and art items from ancient times to modern times). On top of Kolonaki is Lycabettus hill, on top of which you can enjoy a spectacular afternoon or evening view of Athens, and also have dinner or drinks or coffee at the cafe. There is a funicular railway taking you up there. Enjoy!
As for Santorini, I think there is a connection between Mykonos and Santorini sometime in the week, but I agree that it's far and you will end up spending your holidays in a boat. However, if when on Mykonos you find out a high speed connection with Santorini and a flight back to Athens from Santorini, you could do that, but it may cost more and anyway you don't have so much time and you won't be able to enjoy each place to the fullest.
I'd say, 3 days in Athens, 3 days in Mykonos and Delos and 1 day on Syros is best.

Even if the ferry ride is long, I HIGHLY recommend Santorini. I absolutely loved it and have so many pictures of the gorgeous blue domed, white-washed buildings. Its just spectacular and not enough words can describe the views.
Athens is great! The Plaka area has great food and some good places for a drink. Of course you'll want to see the Acropolis. There is this cute little train ride thing that takes you around to see the sites. Its located in the Plaka area as well. For some good shopping, check out Syntagma Square. It has a bunch of shops. If you are in Athens on a Sunday, there is this big processional in front of Syntagma Square for the changing of the guard.
As for Mykonos, you'll want to go sit by the windmills by Zorba's store to see the sunset. Its really pretty. When you are at the windmill area, you'll notice the buildings to your right at the water looks like Italy. They call it "Little Italy". Zorba's was actually in the "Bourne Identity" at the very end of the movie. There are a bunch of shops there. There is a little creppe place that has fantastic chocolate crepes. Mykonos has some clubs but they are considered "gay bars" ("The Ramrod Club" is one indication). But it is a hot spot for the younger adults.
Enjoy Greece! I had a fantastic time there and would love to go back!

Nice idea to have island hopping. Close to Mykonos are located Paros and Naxos and farther Santorini. You can have daily excursions to these islands. Catch the boat, preferably the High speed catamarans and within 30' or at last in 1 hour you are in your destination. There are more than 2 or 3 different boats that approaching those islands daily, and will disagree with cpinatsi. For Santorini will take 3 - 4 hours and maybe less and is no so often connected with Mykonos..
So no big deal the travel time for Paros and Naxos. Naxos is not so wide known touristic destination, you can visit traditional villages and different ancient sites. Paros is almost like Mykonos allot of day and night life. To have and idea about the itinenaries time tables see the links bellow.
Have nice vacations

Santorini isn't very far from Mykonos, but if you want to go somewhere closer to Mykonos, you can go to Naxos, Paros, Antiparos. Personally, I prefer Santorini (you have to go to OIa for the sunset) and Milos (go to Plaka; great sunset, too).
I don't agree with the friend who says that two days are enough for Athens. Just think that is a city with a history more than 3000 years! Two days are enough?
In Athens, during the day you can go to Acropolis, Museums etc. At night you can visit Plaka, Theisio, etc.
In Mykonos 24-7 clubbing at the beach!!!

IOS! you need to go to Ios Island!!! It's a bit of a party island, but I have sent meny people there and everyone loves it! Mykonos is very beautiful, but I would spend less time there and more time hopping around. Even if you left Mykonos one day early to spend time elsewhere. Enjoy your trip! Greece is an awesome trip!
