First time I went into the Dr.'s which was early Jan. I had a negative test, but was sick all the time (I knew I was pregnant). After that, I switch Dr.'s and two weeks ago, I go to the Dr. and a nurse uses a doppler to hear the heartbeat, and sure enough it was strong at 160. The nurse said judging by my LMP I would be almost 19 weeks along. This wednesday I went and had my first US which determined the baby was concieved on Dec. 20th, even though I had no period that month. Could the Dr. be wrong??? If I did conceive on the 20th of Dec. and my periods are 30 days apart how far along am I really???

I wouldn't put any blame on the first doctor because it was probably too soon to detect HCG on a urine test.
But my last LMP was November 17 which means I most likely conceived November 29... and I am 18 weeks today
So if you conceived December 20 you would only be like 15 to 16 weeks pregnant.

Telling how far the pregnancy is by ultrasound is very accurate. If you conceived on December 20th, you'd be 15 weeks pregnant. Doctors actually say you're two weeks further along than the baby's gestational age, since most women menstruate about 2 weeks before their fertile period. It's possible for a baby to just measure small on an ultrasound, but 4 weeks is a big deal. Doc is probably right. Something else delayed your period for December, then you ovulated and got pregnant. Sometimes women just skip periods for no apparent reason, but that doesn't mean they don't ovulate! Congratulations!

First off, congrats!! The ultrasound is one of the most accurate ways to determine when a baby is concieved. If you concieved on dec 20th, you would be about 17 weeks I think but thats just me doing math in my head. I concieved about Jan. 20th and are 11 1/2 weeks. I would trust the ultrasound findings to give you an estimate of whent he baby will come. With my first, I got a due date at the beginning but at the ultrasound was measuring much smaller. When he was finally born, he was late by 2 weeks which was right on time for the ultrasound pics. Good luck and congrats again!

Logically you are 13 weeks along, medically speaking you are probably 15 (they add about 2 weeks...for example I conceived on Jan 21st--the only possible day that i had conceived--and they said the first week of jan).
If you are showing around 19 weeks, jsut wait it out. There is a possibility that the baby is just going through one stage a little faster, but will slow down. And stop worrying, its bad for you and the baby!

If you conceived on the 20th of December you would be considered 15 weeks pregnant. That is assuming that your LMP was 2 weeks before you conceived. If you had an ultrasound it would have told you how many weeks along you are. I would go by that. The US is more reliable than using the date of LMP if you have irregular cycles.

the thing is with pregnancy it's a big guessing game. They usually judge it from the last period, And by the way, not everyone get's a positive test when they are pregnant. So it just really depends on when you had your last period

If you have your doubts, talk to your doctor about them. Either that or go to a different doctor. The ultrasound is the best way, right now, to determine how far along you are.
