I think your petrol tank is 50 litres. And the warning light comes on when you have only 10 litres left. (Peugeot designed)
I have two Peugeots with one litre engines, and we get about 9.3 miles/litre and our cars are OLD!!. 9.3 miles/litre = 42 miles per Imperial gallon. We drive 60-65 mph maximum.
Therefore... 50 litres x 9.3 = 465 miles and you are dead at the side of the road, mate.

You should average around 350 on a tank.
As for the faster further statement, your wrong.
Firstly you are travelling the same distance, you just get there quicker.
Secondly you need to consider the air resistance and drag coefficient of your car. faster will probably mean more power required to maintain the speed. More power required = More gas / petrol used.

LOL.
Fuel consumption is miles per gallon.
There is a fixed number of gallons, do if you go faster you get less miles per gallon, so NO you don't go further. If you have 20 gallons, and you do 20 miles to the gallon you go 400 miles, if you do 40 miles to the gallon you get 800 miles.
