Yes, Terro does, they will carry it back to the nest, where it will get all of them. Make sure you put the stuff where your children and pets can't get at it. Just give it a little time, and check the spot often, the ants will be gone in a few days. I use this stuff every year to get rid of them. We have sandy soil here, and its easy for them to dig into....

There is a product out now that is called a "bait". Am not sure if you are talking about fire ants or if you are talking about just small household sugar ants. Down here in the south we have a big problem with fire ants. The lawn can be spread with the ant bait which the ants take back to their mounds and eventually get the bait to the queen. Supposedly this eliminates the colony. However, i have not found it to have excellent results as i still have many mounds in my yard.

Some do, most dont.
One that do that I know that does is Grant's Ant spikes.
If you wanna get rid of ants, but dont wanna call in an exterminator, simple....
Go to Lowes or Home Depot and grab some Ant Granules and a 1gal spray bottle of Ortho MAX. Spread the granules around the perimeter of yer house, and spray the MAX wherever you see the ants, and also around your perimeter and in any cracks and crveces you see. The poison on the MAX sticks to the ants and they take it back to their colony and they die there.

Sprays are made to kill ants. In small quantities it will usually drive them elsewhere... which often means you'll see more of them.
The baits, of all kinds, are partially edible, and will attract the ants to eat them. In theory, they all swarm it, and feed the queen who dies. In practice, the colony tends to share the poison so much that it has little effect, and evn if the queen dies, an egg with a new one will usually hatch pretty soon, so the colony tends to go on.

Some do. Some will attract ants into a box or container and the antsw carry the chemical back into the nest where supposidely, it kills the entire nest, including the queen. Most sprays kill on contact

No. In ant traps, an attractant to the insecticide attracts the ants., which they carry back to the nest.
Ant KILLER is basically ant spray, or diazinon crystals

It depends on the type of ant killer. The "ant hotels" and some pesticides attract ants to the bait which they consume and die.
