it depends on ur MOBO (motherboard), get ur model number of ur MOBO, and do a google search, find the spec sheet for it. On the spec sheet it will tell u how much memory (RAM), and how fast and what type and the quantity of sticks u can use...

The components you are asking about are not matched that way. You can match your processor to your ram, but it is far easier to say I have such and such processor and motherboard, which ram do I need. Motherboards, Processors and RAM have several factors that must be looked at when matching them. Just like the processor has a speed so does the RAM and to know which processor to buy to match your RAM someone would need to know which Motherboard you had and the specs of the other components.

The 512 refers to the amount of memory. You can put any amount of memory with any processor. What you need to know is the speed of the memory needed for your system board. Check the web site of the maker of your PC and they will have information on what speed of memory you need for that board.

If the RAM matches what your motherboard can use then yes they are compatible.
I would recommend that you bite the bullet and upgrade your whole system to a core duo or amd64 or higher.
