As a marine I will not bash our country, military or leaders. We are trying to rid the world of terrorist, to all the people agansit the war would you rather the US be open season or would you rather draw the majority into a one area--Iraq, Afaganistan. Another point all you people who bash us and our country, what have you done to make anything better, what have you ever done for our country, and the sad part is 90% of you nothing.

Kelli kind of sums it all up in a short blunt answer.

Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Richard Clarke testified under oath that Bush & Company wanted to invade Iraq before he ever took office in Jan.2001. The WTC destruction did not occur until Sept.2001.

I don't like to think of what will take place in the US if we don't get the troops back home soon. If it's only a possibility.... then justice has been replaced with absolutism.

Here come the 60's and 70's again. Ready for a riot?

My opinion on Iraq? I suggest you think about this: Consider that we cut and run like little schoolgirls as the Democrats want. The terrorists then begin killing hundreds and even thousands of Iraqis who supported us. Once they have murdered hundreds of thousands, they turn their efforts to rebuilding the oil industry that they themselves destroyed. Once that is up and running again, they will have both a safe haven from which to launch terror attacks against American interests all over the world and all the money they would ever need to do it. Why the Democrats don't understand this is beyond me. The Democrats are doing in Congress what they are doing (undermining the war and our troops) for short-term political gains; they see only as far as the next election. This is the primary tenet of Clintoonism. The Republicans can see far beyond the next election. We know the enemy and their ultimate goals, which is the destruction of this country because only the US has the muscle to defeat them. But the Democrats are bent on losing the war. They OWN defeat. The real loser is going to be you and your children if we lose...

The war in Iraq is a waste of time, lives and money.

The possible withdrawal of troops next year won't happen because of President Veto and his Amazing Powers of Ignorance of the American Public... but I think it was a valiant effort on the part of Congress.

I think we should have left Iraq already. As for
withdrawing the troops by next year, hope so
but not holding breath.

I think our presence in Iraq is a noble one and I think that no one can, (nor should), set a timetable for withdrawal! I think that we should stay there until both the U.S and the Iraqis agree that the country is stable enough for the Iraqis to take full charge. The "opinions" of the rest of the world, (and our shallow-minded Democrats, along with the liberal press), should NOT be a factor of influence!
I say, when you're doing the right thing... stay focused and press on!
The most honorable man in the whole history of the world was persecuted and ultimately crucified by his own people!
That man was Jesus Christ.

I'm old enough to remember the Vietnam war; this is starting to look like it. And the politicians are starting to express the same doubts as they ones in the 60s did.

The only real difference is there is no superpower backing up the insurgents, as there was in Vietnam. We don't have the will for this kind of long fight.

The morally right thing do do was to leave after we over through Saddam.

It's a mess. We got invovled mainly based on info which later proved to be incorrect. Now we have caused such turmoil by removing their dictator that it would be negligent to leave the country without providing security forces. This is what you call a "Catch-22" in the truest sense of the word.

If we leave, we are being negligent and ignoring our repsonsibility, and if we stay we are enabling the iraqi governments dependence on us for security. At some point we've got to cut em loose.

Say what you will, a withdrawal of troops doesn't make us any safer.

The war is unneccesary.

The withdraw.... I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing...
