Scroll over someones Avatar and it will say, "Add Contact" just push the plus sign, then on their end you've just become a fan. Every time someone adds you as a contact they are your fan. Just choose people whose Q or A's you've liked and add them.
Don't forget, if you see some fans pop up add them as contacts too.

it's because people like your questions or answers or both, and they want a quicker connection to them, you get an email from yahoo if someone adds you and you can either delete the email if you want them to have a fan or you can click on the first link in the email for them to be a contact.
to add click on the persons profile and it will say underneath their avatar add contact and just click on that
I am quite flattered by the fact I have fans I feel honoured

Add someone to your contacts and if they add you to their, they are your fan. You can see what they asked and answered.

It is great fun to have them as well. I watch my contacts and fans to see what they star and answer.
