Does that mean if I don't have the systems disk, Windos or what not, what can I do? I have already double checked all cables, floppy drive, etc. HELP! And where's the cheapest place to purchase it?

The pc was given to me...it sucks anyway. I bought a Poker game for it and my Pentium2 couldnt deal. I think if I just get a new tower I'll be good huh? Or a new hard drive...which would be smarter?

It means your internal hard disk doesn't have a bootable operating system. If you were previously able to boot and had windows but don't know, your hard drive either failed or got hit with a virus.

You will have to use a restore CD (if you have one) or reinstall the operating system.

It means that your computer is not able to find the Windows program on the device that is it trying to boot from. Check to be sure that you do not have a floppy disk or a CD disk in either drive.

If not, and you still get the error, then something has corrupted ot damaged the boot sector of the hard drive. You will probably need professional assistance (or a favorite geek) to help you recover from that error.

When you installed windows you had a chance to create a boot floppy disk. However in the release of Windows XP you can also use your install CD.

The only real thing you can do is stick in the Windows CD and try and reinstall windows...

However it could be more serious. Your Hard Drive could have just taken a crap on you.

Hope not. Cross your fingers.

means there is no HDD for the system to boot from. check all the plugs for it. also you can put a startup floppy in the disk drive and once you get a dos prompt, you can type in C:...hit enter and see if it goes there. if it does, type in ......DIR.....hit enter. if you get something to come up, then you have other problems why the HDD isn't being read. could be in the bios.
