With bumps on the head, here are a few things to keep in mind.

If it swells out, usually no concussion. If it does not visably swell, and the impact was pretty hard, you need to see a doctor as you may have internal swelling and bruising ( a concussion).

If the person acts "funny". Disoriented, can't identify simple object or count, or really, really sleepy. Go get them checked out.

Other than that, if you think the hit was hard enough to cause damage, call your doctor or the local ask a nurse and tell them what is going on.

Hi there,

Taken from web md, symptoms of a concussion can range from mild to severe; they can last for a few hours, days, weeks, or even months.

Symptoms of a concussion include:

Passing out.

Not being able to remember what happened after the injury.

Acting confused, asking the same question over and over, slurring words, or not being able to concentrate.

Feeling lightheaded, seeing "stars," having blurry vision, or experiencing ringing in the ears.

Not being able to stand or walk; or having coordination and balance problems.

Feeling nauseated or throwing up.

On rare occasions, concussions cause more serious problems. Repeated concussions or a severe concussion may require surgery or lead to long-lasting problems with movement, learning, or speaking. Because of the small chance of permanent brain problems, it is important to contact a doctor if you or someone you know has symptoms of a concussion.

Cheers.

The first answerer is wrong about there usually being no concussion when there is visible swelling.

I had a horrible concussion that required physical therapy to regain my balance and I wore a goose egg the size of a golf ball for two weeks.

It's always better safe than sorry to get a head injury checked out. Good luck.
