Well, your dad is being controlling, and there isn't much you can do about it. He's obviously making you work there because you're cheap labor, and he probably doesn't actually have you on payroll and so doesn't report you to the Social Security Administration, which is probably illegal. That said, you're lucky to get $8/hr. I get $7/hr and I wash dishes all night. Not fun stuff.

Is there another job you have in mind? Does it pay more? The last thing you want is for him to finally let you get another job and then you have to come graveling back. If you do have a job and the amount you will be making in mind then I would bring it up to him. "Dad, I'll be working "here" and it pays really well...here are the benefits."...also, you might want to use the fact that you want to work for someone you aren't related to so you can see how it's going to be in the "real world." Good luck!

Wow, what a control freak. Go apply for other jobs anyway, give your two week notice to your dad like any other employee would do. If you are over 18, nothing he says matters anyway, but be prepared to move yourself out of the house if that is the case.

Also, go see a counselor on how to deal with your dad, he may benefit from family counseling as well.
