I think it depends on the person. But, for me, music does more than get me through lifes ups and downs. It is my love, inspiration, spiritual connection, childhood, family, and is the essence of who I am as I person. Most of my confidence derives from my experience with music.

Last month, all of my belongs that I had stored away in a public storage facility were destroyed in a fire. This included my music collection. Sometimes music can soothe the savage beast and at other times no. As long as your on this God-given earth there will be rocky days and smooth sailing days, its life. You can find a friend that you can confide in and talk, read a good novel if you like reading, movies etc. to take your mind of things, but do what suits you at that moment and of course prayer works.

I 100% believe that music can help you get through life's ups and downs.

There are angry songs (Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit is great to listen to when you are angry)
There are sad songs (Hurt by Johnny Cash always makes me cry)
There are fun songs (Shake A Tail Feather by Ray Charles will make me smile)
There are inspirational songs (Baz Luhrmann sunscreen)

Songs that remind us of something - like IIO Rapture reminds of a holiday in Ibiza, etc.

I absolutely believe that music can help you get through life.

Of course. You can get lost in it, just like life. Most of us who are obsessed with music can name a song for just about every moment (good and bad) we have lived through.
