I want some software where I can edit some songs I have (take out vocals, increase guitar volume, etc.). I also want it to be free, reliable, and safe. Where can I get something like that?

I want this so I can make copies of songs and take out the vocals, and maybe take out the sound of one or two instruments as well (that, and it will help me learn how to play some songs on the guitar). Thanks in advance.

Well, when I say 'safe', I mean like it won't give me a virus or something. And when I say 'free', I mean for download on some website.

Store stuff is okay, too, as long as it is reliable and not too expensive.

Taking out vocals is virtually impossible unless it's on a separate channel. You want freeware? try audacity at soundforge. That will get you started.

Go to any best buy or circuit city type store, for windows get Adobe Audition/Cool Edit, Acid, or Vegas for MAC get Pro Tools. these are what the pros use. there are no good free programs to use with what you want to do, the free programs are a waste, spend a few bucks and get the real thing.

Reliable, good quality music editing programs aren't cheap. If you are serious about that kind of business, I would invest in it. Get pro tools.
