Looking at the map of the grounds, it looks like it might be just as easy to take the shuttle to Epcot first, then ride the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. Any other Disney transporation tips appreciated.

I don't think it will save you any time to take the bus then take the monorail. Since the shuttle takes you right to Magic Kingdom, it will probably save you time over going to EPCOT, then transferring, etc.

I would just take the shuttle straight over. If you are going to be at any of the deluxe resorts for breakfast or something, then it is quicker to just take the monorail over to Magic Kingdom, but otherwise I would just take the shuttle.

Have a great time!

I also agree, use the Disney bus system.

The kicker here is that the monorail from Epcot only goes to the Transportation and Ticket Center (which is across the lake from the Magic Kingdom entrance)..whereas the bus will drop you right outside the Magic Kingdom main entrance.

So, if you wanted to take the monorail, you'd have to get yourself to Epcot (by bus), take the Monorail to the TTC, then get off of that monorail and get on another going to the Magic Kingdom. In that time, you could have taken a bus straight to the front gate and gotten yourself inside!

Have a great trip!

You make this sound complicated.
Why don't you just get on the Magic Kingdom bus [or shuttle as you are calling it] at Port Orleans?
It seems like a waste of time to ride the bus to EPCOT and then transfer to a monorail and ride over to the Magic Kingdom.
i mean the Magic kingdom bus takes you basically right to the curbs of the gates to the Magic Kingdom.

There's a shuttle that'll go directly from Port Orleans to the front entrance of the Magic Kingdom. If you take the bus to the monorail, it could take a little longer.

It's much faster and much more relaxing if you allow the bus driver to get you there. Otherwise you'd take the shuttle, then walk up the ramps to take the monorail, wait for the monorail and hope you get a seat. People jam themselves into each car even if they have to stand. But if you take the shuttle all the way to the park you won't have to do all this extra walking and waiting. :)

Just take the shuttle bus directly to Magic Kingdom. It would take more time to wait and board on the monorail, then it would to just board the bus that directly goes to the Magic Kingdom.

When I was there I rode the shuttle everywhere. There are multiple routes. I think it would be faster than a possible wait for the monorail.

We actually took that route one time! First the bus and then the Monorail. It was so much faster! I would try it! Good luck!

We stayed at Port Orlean just last month. All we did was hop on a disney bus and it took us straight there.
