Is there a law that enables a surviving child to assume ownership of a deceased parent.?

My uncle lou has lived with his dad for about 5 years. his dad passed away last friday and the other siblings just want to kick him out so they can sell the house and get thier share of the sale price

If Uncle Lou is of sound mind and body and can care for himself....and if it was Uncle Lou's father that passed....Uncle Lou is the rightful owner of the property. Especially since he has established residency and is the next of kin.
