Yahoo actually offers something similar. What you need to do first is make sure you have a graphics cards with the output capabilities of TV. If you do, then just connect your TV to your computer. Try going to http://labs.yahoo.com . There's also other software available, actually most likely with your graphics card that allows you to watch DVDs on your computer, but on the TV (if that makes sense)

Using a normal display adapter impossible but try out with a GPU output to the TV for HD OUT.

You have to buy the Cable you need to connect to your TV and Computer.
The link show a Video Card with the three possible outputs you may or may not see on your Computer.

The one on left is most common, but, you may see them all.
Buy the Cable with the connector you need. Then usually the TV have like the Stereo Connectors or possibly one like you see on the video card, this the type you need on the other end of your cable.
Once you know what your connectors look like you buy something like this link;

What kind of TV? Do you have a tv tunner on your computer? Does your video card have a DVI or S-Video cable connection? My Tv can conect through DVI to HDMI cable, but I currently have it hooked up through an S-Video cable. So yes it can be done.

It can be done if your PC has TV Out slot, or you can use AV TV cables, they sell them in computer shops.. I watched TV from my laptop couple of times but it's a hassle so i use my creative M:Vision now to watch something i downloaded from the internet..
Hope it helps, and good luck,

yes, you'll need the Y cable with RCA's if you only have the single monitor conector on your computer. if useing a laptop, connect to the external monitor port.
