Time for a second opinion!
For the vast majority of men, the creams DO work and the stretching DOES work. There is no downside to trying these things right away.
Some doctors who were circumcised themselves think it's desirable (and for them, financially, it is) and don't want to be bothered by any other approach. BUT IT'S NOT YOUR DOCTOR'S PENIS! IT'S YOURS!!
Tell the urologist you do NOT want circumcision. He may suggest a minor snip that retains the foreskin, but be extremely careful to know what you are agreeing to before he starts cutting!
In the next two weeks, try pulling on the sides of the foreskin (only to the point of mild discomfort, not to the point of pain, as pulling too hard actually makes it worse). Pull for 20 seconds and release. Repeat 20 times. Do this three times a day. The first few times do it in a warm bath if possible. Lotion or baby oil may help. By the end of the two weeks, you should be able to cancel the appointment with the urologist.
I strongly suggest you go to http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis/ You'll need to scroll past some stuff about babies to get to the area that's relevant to you. But there's plenty of good information there.
Another possibility is just to change the way you masturbate: see http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis/beauge2/ It can't hurt to try!
Good luck! And don't let anyone cut you.

You probably want a second opinion. Circumcision is quite extreme for most cases of phimosis (a condition where the foreskin opening is too tight/narrow to be retracted), especially if it's not what you want. Ignore that doctor and try the following first.
First, do try stretching exercises. In one stretching exercise you take two fingers and stretch the opening as far as it'll go without pain or discomfort (like increasing its radius) by hooking a finger on either side of the foreskin opening. It's a little hard to describe and may take a few tries to get right. It's important that it doesn't hurt, because if it does it could cause scarring and make your situation a lot worse. It's best done after a shower and just stretch the skin as directed above, hold for a few seconds, let it relax, and repeat for a few minutes. Do this everyday for a few weeks to a month.
If after a month and that doesn't work, see a different doctor about prescription creams. The creams are supposed to be the most cost-effective and one of the best treatments, especially if combined with the stretching exercises.
If this doesn't work after another month or so (and it should work) then you might want to consider surgical options. Note that this doesn't mean circumcision, as there are less invasive, less painful, and less radical surgical treatments. See the links for more helpful info, and good luck.

Some doctors treat every condition with a scalpel. It may turn out to be the only practical solution in your case, as you do need to be able to keep clean to avoid infection. However, you do owe yourself a second opinion. The urologist himself may not agree with your doctor, so wait to see what he says, if you want, since he knows more about penises than a GP.

In reply to Christie, most guys are not circumcised (in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and in the US the rates are falling quickly). See statistics links:

Now to the OP, your doctor sounds like a jerk. There's no simpler way of saying it. He's trying to force things to you and he's ignoring the evidence that creams do work. Hello? It's called modern science. Rather than chopping off body parts, we have science and medicines that work.

Just see another doctor. =)

Why are you talking about circumcision?
Not every Phymosis needs circumcision to be treated!
If yours just is a light one, it needs only a simple cut in day hospital even.
Anyway, circumcision isn't a great problem and the major operation will give you the possibility to have satisfactory sex and keep safer and more hygienic your penis!

It sounds such as you at the instant are not circumcised. The "glans" (your penis head) is frequently secure with the help of foreskin till your foreskin has been bumped off with the help of circumcision. while erect, your foreskin might desire to nonetheless cover your glans, some do some do no longer. many times you may pull decrease back the foreskin to bare the glans in spite of if your penis is erect or no longer.

Ooooh now I see what they mean by misspelled words. I could barely understand most of that. But the little bit I did get when the foreskin doesn't retract then it does need to be removed.
