His wife is dying....either in a year, or 2 or 5. Either way, when does running for president become more important than your spouses health? Doesn't this show him at being selfish? Let her die, I must win at all costs??

He is not being Selfish. Maybe he has Faith that she can beat this thing and she probably is encouraging him to run. Thats what a Good Wife does. She always backs her Man. A lot of cancer Patients are winning the fight over Cancer and she has a good chance also. I think John Edwards may make a Good president. Certainly alot better than what we have running now.

John Edwards' wife has insisted that he continue running for the presidency. The two of them have talked this over; it's not a matter of Edwards' disregarding his wife's wishes. Often when people are faced with a major life crisis they choose to stay as busy and involved in their lives as possible. It's a way of coping, rather than retreating from the world and pitying yourself. There's no cure for the type of cancer Mrs. Edwards has, and she has been able to live pain free, so why not live life to the fullest is her philosophy, it seems to me.

Wow...it's always a GOOD thing to take bits and peices of information, not hear other parts, and twist it to make a person look evil. Drama Mongers UNITE!!

First of all, his wife is NOT dying of cancer...she has cancer. (There is a difference) It is inoperable, and incurable, but it IS treatable. She is in otherwise healthy condition, and as long as she takes care of herself, and maintains a healthy lifestyle, and continues on the medications she is already on , she potentially has decades ahead of her...not 2 years or 5. Decades. Kay? In fact, statistically speaking, she would probably be more likely to die in a car wreck before the cancer kills her.

Second of all, they have been together since they were both in college, and have a close-knit relationship. One can only assume that they discussed it, and she said "Go ahead and run"...I am not a huge John Edwards fan, but I seriously doubt he is ditching his wife for the presidency. If that were the case, with 19 or so months before elections, it would come out that he said "Screw you *****, I am living in the white house with or without you", and he would lose by a landslide. So, come on...must we get all in a tizzy about things we know nothing about and let our imaginiations run with improbabilites?

John Edwards isn't letting his wife die, nor is he making his campaign more important than her. Isn't it possible that she's the one pushing him to continue? Besides, there's not much he can do to help her. He's no doctor. You can run for president and stick by your family. Obama can do it. Even Romney can do it.

I think she is either a very good actress, or a very very strong woman...I pretty sure it' the latter...I think she wants this as much for her husband as he does, maybe more...I don't think he's forcing her to go along...If they quit, it's like giving up...ok..cancer you win..we quit....I have the upmost respect for her and their decision...Too many times people do give up with the attitude that I'm gonna die anyway why do anything...We are all gonna die....Live life to the fullest with the time you have left doing what you love......God Bless them...

Cancer is not a death sentence. I'm sure she's supportive of his goals. Even if she was taken from this earth a good wife would want him to continue to do good things for the world.

Don't forget, her cancer just returned. She thought she was cancer free. I'm sure he offered to back out, but she probably encouraged him to move forward. If and when the time comes where she can't continue her pace, then I'm sure he will step down. She wants him to see his dream. That's what spouses do.

Don't you think this was a family desicion? Do you think he said, "Sorry babe, I've got to run for President.."?

Why are you so quick to attack Mr Edwards?

Go mind you're own family affairs.

A~
