William Mizner, playwiright. In Alva Johnston "The Legendary Mizners" (1953) ch.4

"If you steal from one author, it's plagiarism; if you steal from many, it's research."

Personally, I like Tom Lehrer's lyrics: "Plagiarise! let no-one else's work evade your eyes, remember why the Good Lord made your eyes....."

When you research, you state your sources in the bibliography, thus giving the authors credits. But when you plagiarise(im not very sure how its spelled), you don't. its like stealing.
