have to agree with getting a rescue bun! here in the uk there are 33,000 buns in rescue centres awaiting their forever home. sadly people dont realise how much it takes to look after a rabbit or get them for a child who soon gets bored! if i had realised all the facts before i got my 1st bun i would have got a rescue rabbit but my 2nd rabbit who im picking up in 2 weeks is going to be adopted. found in awful cramped conditions :(
the bonus of a rescue bun is u will know the rabbits temprament, they will have their jabs and also be neutered/spayed. and the donation would be alot less than you would pay for rabbit from a breeder inc the spay etc.

There are lots of bunnies that need homes and are up for adoption, so I would recommend rescuing one before going to a pet store to buy one. I've rescued 3 bunnies who have been normally put down because no one wanted them and to watch them go from scared little things with no personality because there are too petrified to move to little balls of excitement who will jump in the air and learn to trust you enough to take food out of your hand or to cuddle up against you. www.rabbit.org is a good site to find bunnies in your area and to find really great info on taking care of them.

I'm a lionhead rabbit breeder in Maryland. However, if you're just wanting a pet I suggest you adopt. Adoption fees include a spay/neuter(which is needed do to aggression and spraying), and most come with microchips.

Check ARBA.net for rabbit shows in your area. You could also join rabbit group on Yahoo! to find breeders with the breed you want. I wouldn't recommend pet stores as they aren't honest on what they are selling you. Good Luck.

Check out your local shelters, or check online to see if there are rabbit adoptions. I've found local organizations will occasionally hold rabbit adoptions. Also, rabbits are often available following rabbit shows at fairs, etc.

Check local shelters & rescues, as rabbits are commonly given up.
