My sister was shipping a package overnight for me via UPS. The package was mistakenly placed in the Fed-Ex drop box. She called Fed-ex right away and they assured her that the package was going to be placed in the UPS box (which was right next to it) They said the driver would scan it right there and realize it was a UPS package and place it in the drop box.

I was supposed to receive this package at 10:30 am today and UPS has no info on the package (it does not show it was scanned). They said I have to wait until tomorrow to begin a trace on the package. Meanwhile Fed-Ex says they put it in the UPS box, they obviously cannot guarantee this but that is their answer. I had the box delivered to my work because I needed it ASAP. As luck would have it, today is also my last day here. What can I do??

That comedy of errors would be funny under the right circumstances. If your sister has the UPS tracking number, just Google it to see if it has been scanned by UPS. If not, you have a problem and might never see your package.

Tell your company that something may be showing up for you from UPS. Ask them to call you and have you come get it.
