I'll try!

Each team has 9 players on a roster at any given time. One team plays the field, the other is batting. When both teams get a chance to bat, that is known as 1 inning. There are 9 fielding positions on the field, Pitcher, Catcher, 1st Base, 2nd Base, Short Stop, 3rd Base, Left Field, Right Field and Center Field. The players in the field use equipment called gloves, which they use to catch the baseball in.

The object of the game is to try and score the most amount of points, called "runs", after a 9 inning period.

The pitcher pitches the ball to the batter, who is from teh other team and uses a bat, and if it is in a designated area from the batter's chest to his knees and over what is called home plate, that pitch is a strike. If it outside that "zone" its called a ball. When a batter gets 3 strikes, he is called "out". There are 3 outs per half inning, and after those outs are amassed, the other team gets to bat. They alternate hitting and fielding for a total of (at least) 9 innings. When a player gets 4 balls instead of 3 strikes, he "walks" and gets to proceed to first base. If he hits the ball, however, he attempts to run to first base. If the opposing team either catches the ball before it hits the ground OR throws the ball to first base before the runner reaches there, said runner is out. If they do not, he gets a hit. If the hitter hits the ball over the back wall, it is called a homerun and his team automatically gets a "run".

Also, there are lines designating the field of play, as in any sport. If the batter hits the ball out of hte field of play (out of bounds), it is registered as a foul. A foul ball can be caught in the air by the other team and be registered as an out, otherwise it counts as a strike. A batter cannot strike out by hitting a foul ball, so if he has 2 strikes against him, he can continue hitting.

After a player reaches first base, if he doesn't get out or hit a homerun, the object is to try and touch each of the other bases (Second, third and homeplate) before being tagged or before his team amasses three outs. So the batting team would try to hit the ball pitched to them from the fielding team's pitcher into play so that they can get their players to touch all of the bases. Once a player is on "any" base, he is safe and therefore not eligable to be tagged out. (A tag out is when a fielding team's player is in possession of the ball and touches the player from the batting team with teh ball or with the glove that the ball must be in.)

A "run" is scored when a player from teh batting team touches first, second, third and home plate in succession before his team has amassed the three outs and their batting half of the inning ends. If a player scores an aforementioned homerun, he has to run around and touch each base and his turn to bat is over. Also, any players who are "safe" on base ahead of him get to score as well. So, the most amount of runs a player can score is four, one for each base (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and one for himself. When a homerun is hit and four runs are scored, it is called a Grand Slam.

The team with the most runs after 9 innings wins. IF the teams are tied after 9 innings, they continue to play until one team is up after the inning is over.

That's as simple as I can put it. Hope this helps.

While wikipedia would offer a slightly longer but probably more thorough explanation, here we go:

Each team gets a turn at bat in each of the nine innings.

A team's turn at bat consists of three outs.

An out occurs when a player in the field (the ones wearing the large leather gloves) either catches a batted ball in the air (before it has touched the ground) OR forces a runner out at a base (this is complicated, but basically if you are on base and there is no open or empty base behind you, then you must run on any fair ball hit that is not caught on the fly {see above}) OR is struck out by the pitcher OR is tagged out when off a base (such as caught stealing a base).

Play begins when the pitcher throws the ball toward the catcher, and a batter tries to hit the ball. The goal of the batter is to safely reach base and eventually round all the bases to score a run at home plate.

The players on a team bat in order (taking their turns) each time their team is up to bat. When three outs occur, the batting team then plays defense in the field, and the fielding team becomes the hitting team.

The teams continue this alternation of offense (hitting) and defense (playing in the field) until nine innings have been played, each inning consisting of one full cycle of this alternation of offense and defense.

The team with the most runs (batters who safely round all the bases) at the end of nine innings wins.

That's a brief summary of a very complex sport.

Baseball
Field- The field is like a dimand shaped area. There is a first, second, third, and home plate. Everything from the grass in is infield, everything from the grass out is outfield.

Pitching- A pitcher pitches the ball down the field to the batter. He has to make it into the strike zone (an imaginary line that goes from the batters knee to his sholders and the length if home plate). The pitcher has a lot of pitches. Some include 2 seam fast ball 4 seam fastball, curve ball, sinker, etc. He pitches what the catch tells him with his fingers.

catcher of course catches the pitched ball, and gets the runner out at home.

First, Second, And third Baseman- They all play the role in getting the runner out at that plate. First baseman is probably the hardest out of the three.

Shortstop-makes diving plays. They are the people who are first in the grass. They catch line drives and fly balls. They are one of the best baseball players.

outfielders- they catch popflys, and manage to catch homeruns. There are only three so they have to be quick to catch the ball.

batter- The batter hits the ball and runs. He either gets a hit, strike(misses the ball), or ball(outside the strike zone). If he hits it he runs the bases. If he is hit with a pitch he walks to forst base. If he gets 4 balls he walks to first base. If he gets 3 strikes he is out. The batter hits grand slams(4 run homerun), homerun, base hit(only ran to one base), double(ran two bases, or a triple(ran three bases.)

game- there are 9 innings. it goes by top of the inning and bottom of the inning. After a team gets three outs it goes to the next inning.

If you want more information watch some of the games. That is pretty much everything i know about baseball.

take a round ball, throw it to home, batter tries to hit it, than runs bases trying to score runs while avoiding making outs. A ball caught in the air is an out, a ball that reaches a base before the runner gets there is out. A ball hit over a fence is a home run and entitles the hitter to "clear the bases". The game is 9 innings long, and each inning gives each team 3 outs. There are 9 fielders (pitcher, catcher, 1-2-3rd basemen, Shortstop, 3 Outfielders and a catcher who receives the Pitch.

simple two team face eachother. one team hits the ball while the other team tries to defend the field i guess you coould say. the team that hits has to hit the ball and try to get as many people back to home plate as possible (each person that touches home is 1 point) they have to hit the ball and run and get to the next base before a player that is feilding can get the ball then tag you or touch the base you are running to. You dont have to stop after you get to one of the bases if a base in front of you is free and the ball seems pretty far out you can still run. The fielding team has to simply catch or field the ball then tag or step on a plate to get a runner out. if they get 3 outs the teams rotate so the other fields and the team that was feilding goes to hit the ball.

The Great Game of Baseball==Ok..You have 9 players on the field..Pitcher..Catcher..1st basemen..2nd basemen..3rd basemen...Left Fielder..Center Fielder..and Right Fielder..and Shortstop..ok with me so far..then you have the batter...the batter walks up to the plate and the pitcher pitches him the ball the batters job is to hit the ball and get on base the pitchers job is to try to strike the batter out...ok..if the batter hits the ball its the fielders jobs to try to get him out on base..points are scored by runs..who ever has the most runs at the end of the game wins...that's bout how baseball is played...Hope this helps:)

Buy a book called "Baseball for Dummies". I swear that's the title. It'll be the best $20 you'll ever spend.

baseball is played when someone goes up to home plate and someone pitches the ball and the hitter hits the ball with a bat and they try to make a homerun!
