ikea....
sapping creativity and imagination from the UK. where are all the young designers? every house you go in has some piece of disposable boring crap bought from ikea....

and their returns policy is the worst. ever tried returning something? we bought a matress that was completely different to the one we tested in store. we phoned up, the said we should return it and we could exchange....so....50 miles later with a car full of matress.....and after seeing 6 levels of management,,,"sorry, we wont exchange it"...no apology...nothing.

anyone else had bad experiences with ikea?

our children will never inherit beautiful pieces of furniture at this rate!!

I don't buy furniture at IKEA that is heavier than I can hold. I just don't want the hassle of the "what if". I also can't go back after I bought anything because the nearest one is 2 hours from me. I do like their kitchen tools and prices. Very reasonable for parents of young children. I intend to go Broyhill when they are in high school maybe college.

It's the Price, marketing, and most importantly the compulsive hands-on experience of being in the store.

you feel in control of the shopping experience (though plainly you're a target in a maze of products). It's like a buffet. It's pretty looking furniture with odd names that make no actual sense.

since university I've owned less and less IKEA. but I still have some, namely a table set with the Danish-Modern look. best of all you get to build it yourself!!!
