1. The very first year of daylight saving time (DST) was in 1918, but the Standard Time Act, that introduced it, was repealed the following year.

2. DST was reintroduced because of World War II, and lasted from February 1942 until September 1945. However, that DST was year-round, and was called "War Time".

3. DST was finally adopted as a permanent nationwide feature in 1966, when the Uniform Time Act became law. Note that some states had chosen to adopt DST in the intervening years.
