I recently had a problem where my fone wouldn't turn on, not due to the battery or because it got wet. I sent it away for repair under warrenty and they have said they cant repair due to A: Mis-use of fone or unauthorised engineering and B: used in combination with non-standard accessory.
I have done neither of these things. Is it possible that they see running Java applocations such as alternative web browsers as mis-use? Surely that was the intention?

They are probably just conning you. Unauthorized engineering, Misuse of the phone,, would be disassembling the phone and modifying it. This requires breakling a warranty seal. A nonstandard accessory would be any hardware that is not approved by the manufacturer. Java apps do not fit in these categories.

Could it also be possible that a friend of yours tried to fix it? If the warranty seal ( a small piece of security tape like the ones used on video rentals ) has been damaged they will make that claim.
