GW Bush is a Republican...but that does NOT necessarily mean that Dubya is a rock-ribbed Conservative.

Republican does not always = Conservative. Just look at John McCain...very leftist in his views about private property rights, 2d Amendment, not "reading into" the Constitution anything we want...several core, key issues that Conservatives hold dear.

Democrat does not always = Democrat. Here in the South, a lot of old Dems are actually very Conservative.

Summed up, the differences in their approach to Society and Government:

Liberals count their success by the number of people who rely on the Govt for their daily bread. That lets them feel as if they are doing good work.

Conservatives count their success by the number of people who don't need any help at all, thank you.

The Left is dual-minded: they are against capital punishment for the most heinous murderers we could imagine, but stand in favor of abortion on demand. They support all these individual liberties, but foster the PC movement who will ruin your life if you say something that offends someone. They claim to be for the 'little guy', but support Unions, high taxes, wasteful spending, and damm crooked politicians ( Wm Jefferson in New Orleans with $90,000 cash in his freezer!!) and gov't programs that steal the very dignity from those they claim they try to protect! They say they're for minorities, but don't ask Condi Rice or Clarence Thomas about that...you won't like their answers!

The Right has always been said to favor Big Business...but they are supported by those independent workers who refuse to join a Union. The Right has always been cast as racist...but without the Republican party voting for the Civil rights Act of 1964 ( Al Gore Sr voted AGAINST it every time it came up), the bill would have never seen the light of day. It wasn't Republicans standing in the doorways of schools and lunch counters in the 60's, trying to keep black folks out...nope, it was good ol' Solid South Democrats!

Bush is a Republican. Though not entirely a Conservative.

Bush is a Republican. And the party differences have shifted over the years in the parties, left, right, and central....

Each party has its own nuances...

Go to the website of each party and see if they have a mission statement or something...In fact I should do this...

I believe that George Washington was right and we never should have had political parties, but vote and consider each issue case by case, not with just precedent or party line...

This should be interesting!

Btw, he's republican. Republicanism is the protector of liberty. It establishes a rule of law as well as a way of life and behavior in order to keep the republic strong and safe.

Democracy is the protector of the Bill of Rights basically. Social equality and such.
