Even though he isn't deserving of such accolades, Michael Jackson is probably the most recognizable singer. Though he has mutilated his face, he is still someone who gets mobbed just standing at this window. People know him in almost every country on the planet. Even though he hasn't done anything in a great many years, he did put out some pop mainstays, so he will probably be on that level of fame for a very long time. Not to mention the guys infamy, from baby endangerment to child molestation charges, to buying the elephant mans skeleton, lighting his head on fire filming a Pepsi commercial...etc. He is a lightning rod for controversy and a pop icon.

Even though I would love to say Bon Jovi, I willl have to say it is Michael Jackson, because he is the most famous singer in the world.
