1. Connect the PSP to your PC with a USB cable. (about $10: buy a USB cable for your PSP)

2. Press the "home" button on the PSP (it's a tiny button to the lower left of the screen) then use the left-right directional buttons to find "Settings", then the up-down buttons to find "USB Connection" on the PSP.

3. Press the "X" button (you got it, the round button with the "X" on it) and your PSP should display "USB Connection".

4. In a moment or two your computer should tell you that a new USB device has been connected, then show you a new generic hard drive, usually E: or F:

5. Click on the drive letter that corresponds to the PSP unit.

6. Now create a new folder on that drive and name it "psp".

7. Within the new "psp" folder create another folder, and name it "gmes2".

8. Copy your desired MP3/DAT files into the new "gmes2" folder.

9. When you're done copying your desired games tracks, press the "O" button on the PSP to get out of USB connect mode.

Here's the thing about the PSP, it's Sony vs. the hackers right now and you can't 'have your cake and eat it too.'

The only way you can put ANY non-Sony software on your PSP is to ditch their firmware and install a homebrew OS. This is somewhat technically intensive and runs a small risk that you could 'brick' your PSP (turn it into a completely nonfunctional, irreparable, very expensive paperweight). If you're successful in switching the OS, no new PSP (requiring firmware 2.7+) games will run anymore until their cracked. The bonus is, you can run all kinds of cool homebrew software available (mostly) for free.

A friend of mine bricked his PSP, so this is just a warning. You'll have to look to someone else for the technicalities.

the wide-unfold rule is that in case you will possibly desire to ask the thank you to do it, it won't be able to be achieved. in basic terms custom firmware can play downloaded video games, and in case you put in custom firmware you at leasthave a feeling the place issues flow. the formats are iso, cso, or eboot.pbp installation custom firmware has distinctive variables for an evidence. narrow vs fat vs firmware
