how would i go about making a model for 4th grade social studies?

i have looked online but cant seem to find any web sites. i need to know what kind of materials i will need and i need instructions on how to do it. someone told me to use paper towel holder, but i want it to be done better than that. i dont want it to be cheaply built. anyone have any good ideas. i thought i might could do it with paper mecha but i just dont know how. i want it to look real. i would like to get the materials today so that we can get started on it this weekend. it is due in 2 weeks.

oops i forgot. this is a model of the cannon from the battle of gonzales.

If so, may I suggest a tapered table leg (available at home improvement stores and some hardware stores). Cut the section out of the leg that will best match the scale you are choosing. Wheel disk can be cut from many materials including Styrofoam or wood it you have the tools. Drawing the wheel with a compass will mark the edge and center so that a center hole is in fact centered. A wooden dowel for the axle a block of Styrofoam for the cradle and some balsa wood for the carriage (soak in boiling water if you want to bend it) and you should be well on your way. Paint is also necessary.

get some help and make it out of a block of wood-i think a few power tools should do the trick
or you can do it with tooth picks-may take a long time

you can use paper mache for this-all you need is flour and water-it will harden upon standing.

you could also use wall paper paste-just add a lil more water.

i think cardboard would be goo, but not a paper towel holder because u can't bend it. you could roll the cardboard up into a shape where the bottom it a little bit wider than the top. cut out cardboard wheels. paint it black.
