Actually that is a compliment! But.... I know how you feel. I just moved from a 55+ mobile home park. The people there were very rude right from the start. They didn't even know me and resented me because they thought I didn't belong there because I didn't LOOK 55 or over. I was 60 years old when I moved there!! I stayed on for 3 years and nothing changed. They all accused me of lying about my age to get into the park. I finally moved out and now living in a family mobile home park. Now I'm the granny of the crowd. So yes, "Young un" I know how you feel. You feel like you don't fit in with the "young" crowd because you are "To Old", and, you don't fit in with the "Old" crowd because you LOOK too young. Take my advice go along with the flow. Accept the compliment with a nice "Thank You". What really gets to them is when you give them a "Thank You Sir/Mam", and the look on their face when they find out they are actually younger than you!! LOL.... I've had people tell me "Just wait 'till you get to be MY age. I just respond with "I would love to be your age". I don't tell them I am older than they are, I wait with patience, eventually they will learn your age, the look on their face is well worth it.

Stop wanting to prove it! I am 40, going gray, 5'8" and about 180 pounds (12.85 stones), and I am always being told I am 32 years! With a baseball cap on I get asked for my ID when buying beer or ebtering a bar! I love it! I am a dad with a 14 year old son and it makes me feel good to look young! Hold on to it my friend!

I am 25 (nearly 26) and look about 15 (so I get told) I also get it assumed that I am young.
I usually take pleasure in telling the person/s that I am actually older nthan they are. Such as "when I was doing my degree...." or "bet you cant guess my age?" or "sweetie pie, them were the days... I wish" or "young 'un, thanks for the comploement, I'll remeber that on my 50th!"
Or just rise above it, be glad you look younger than your age for vanity reasons, there are celebreties who pay tens of thousands of pounds just to knock 5 years off their 55 year old age tag.

If you look young enough at that age to get comments like that, by all means enjoy them, trust me they won't last much longer. The comments are probably based upon your youthful looks and not how you are, don't take it personally, actually it is a compliment.

Well, in my opinion if the references that are made to you are in casual conversation, and not meant to degrade you, then go with it. For some, it can be meant to make you feel smaller, inferior, or lesser a person with intent to hurt. But for others, it is just common language just in fun, not meant to harm.

Why do you want to? Being called "kid" at 44 is cool. Roll with it.

hehehe, I havent experienced any of these names that werent accurate; but I have noticed that any one older than your self feels they have some sort of right-of-passage to call you and treat you as a child. It is ridiculous.
