Specifically, what causes the vehicle to idle at too low of an RPM and how do I fix it?

Mitsubishi Galant 2000 V6. I beleive it is fuel injection. No work done recently. Has been in great condition and never given me any problems before today.

need More info. what kind of car size of motor fuel injected or carb. any work done on it recently .

ok first you must have the tools to do this... and if you are not a mechanic I do recommend that you go to your repair shop and have them do it for you. it will all so depend on what car it is carburettor or injection. when last did you have it serviced and if not to long back say 200 to 300 miles then take it back as they did a piss a*s job and are now having a good giggle at the sucker they just had. it will be a number of thing that can have done this, snapping the gears to astern and high revving to hard braking to after.. it can be your fuel filter too that is on its way out (dirt) or pump.. you must look to see what it is doing this... but no train smash it can all so just be a simple setting with your c'o's it will not be to much to have your car set..(tuned up to manufacturer specs) +-50 to $100 been the max at worst case.. hope this is help full..

just take the + cable off the battry about 1min plug it back up crank it this should reset the idiel control or it might need replacing
